This role will work in partnership with Pathway, York’s leaving care team to engage and support care leavers and other vulnerable young people to access services and social support. You will work with groups and individuals and be creative and develop new projects.

Yorkshire and Humber Mind Consortium - Consultancy Opportunity - Consortium Business Development Manager
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic consultant to progress and build on the Yorkshire and Humber Mind Consortium (YHMC) regional business plan.
Remuneration: To be agreed, likely to be between £150 and £250/ day. Hours: 14- 21 hours per week
Length of contract: Initially 3 months, with the prospect of extension.
Background
YHMC is a registered charity established by 11 Local Mind Associations (LMAs) in the region. We have over 30 years experience of providing a wide range of specialist services for people with mental health conditions including; supported housing, day service, supported employment and counselling. We formed the consortium to create a vehicle that would allow us to tender for region and sub region wide contracts and to spread best practice.
Object of the role
To develop and expand the profile, business and income base of the Yorkshire and Humber Mind Consortium.
Tasks
Business Development;
* Scope out existing LMA services within Yorkshire and Humber and collate this information electronically
* Assess and collate information relating to the tender readiness of LMAs using a tender readiness questionnaire based on PQQ questions. This questionnaire already exists but will need updating. Assist LMAs in identifying further development work they need to undertake in order to become tender ready.
* Identify and pro actively seek out potential income generation opportunities including current and future funding and contracting opportunities and income generation through selling products and services. Explore the potential for new market opportunities, including within the commercial sector/employers.
* Actively engage with stakeholders, to raise the profile of the consortium and maximise exposure to potential opportunities.
* Develop the consortium offer, including identifying and developing service models that can be replicated across the region.
* Lead on tender/grant application writing process, coordinating the contributions required from member organisations.
Personal Specification; essential criteria
Skills and Knowledge and Experience
1. Relevant experience of working in a business development capacity, preferably in mental health.
2. The ability to think and act strategically, and identify and engage with key stakeholders.
3. A track record of generating income in excess of £1million through competitive tender/negotiation/grant applications
4. Knowledge of the commissioning landscape in mental health and wellbeing across a range of sectors.
5. Knowledge/understanding of the full income spectrum including capacity building funding streams
6. Understanding of the challenges faced by Local Mind Associations and the role of the Y and H Mind Consortium in meeting these challenges.
Personal Attributes
1. A self starter demonstrating enthusiasm, drive and initiative
2. Willingness to be accountable to the board
3. Ability to communicate effectively at a high level through written reports and verbally
4. Proven negotiation skills
