The Service
The Project supports older people living in Pateley Bridge and the surrounding areas, principally by relieving social isolation through the provision of four luncheon clubs spread across the district. These are run by volunteers, and, as well as providing a hot meal, give the opportunity for regular social contact. Transport is provided, and other activities are often included. Individual needs are also met by one-to-one support from volunteers.
Volunteers
The lunch club volunteers collect the hot meals from the suppliers, serve them and clear away afterwards. They also chat to the clients, and try and make the event as enjoyable as possible for them. Individual volunteers support clients in their own homes by befriending or doing practical tasks such as shopping or sitting with a client to allow the carer take a break.
