6 April 2005 - Launch of Community House Phase 1 building works
The Chairman of the Ripon CVS Board of Directors, His Worship the Mayor, Councillor Stuart Martin, today presided over a reception to mark the launch of the Phase 1 building works for Community House. He thanked all the companies, organisations, trusts and individuals who had contributed to the fund so far, as well as the officers of North Yorkshire County Council, Ripon City Partnership, the architects and structural engineers who have been involved in the planning stage of the project. He also thanked the team of young men from Wealstun Prison who had helped to clear the site ready for the contractors to start work on Monday, 11 April.
We have raised sufficient funds to make the building structurally sound, install services and bring the ground floor into use (Phase 1). We need to raise a further £40,000 to complete the building, and all contributions will be gratefully received. See Can you help us?.
Phase 1 is now complete. We are currently receiving expressions of interest from a number of local organisations who would like to rent office space. The ground floor will be open as from 9 January 2006. Age Concern and Alzheimers Society and the Borrowers Toy Library will all be taking up residence on the ground floor.
