The normal development role of a CVS is to help set up a new project, then see it through to independence. Because Ripon CVS covers a very rural area, it is difficult to set up viable schemes in terms of size of client group, sufficient personnel to make up management committees, and the ever present problems of rural transport. Because of this, Ripon CVS has set up an unusually large range of projects offering direct services to the public.
