The Service
The service is available principally for elderly or disabled people without their own transport and unable to access public transport. Journeys may be for such things as hospital appointments, visits to sick relatives, or essential shopping. There is a mileage charge which starts and ends at the volunteer’s home; the volunteers give their time free. The service covers the whole of the CVS area.
Volunteer drivers
Volunteers are over 21, with at least three years driving experience. They use their own cars and receive a mileage allowance. They should have a clean licence, although a single endorsement for a minor traffic offence may be accepted at the discretion of the CVS. Even small amounts of time offered on an irregular basis can be of great assistance to this scheme.
