The Service
This is a “safety net” service offered to vulnerable elderly people living alone in the Ripon area. On days when they do not have other regular visitors, contact is made by visit or telephone to ensure that they are safe and well. If any problems arise, the organiser will contact the appropriate relatives or services. Clients report that the scheme gives them a feeling of security, and gives their relatives who do not live nearby the re-assurance that someone is keeping an eye on their loved ones. For carers who need to get away on holiday or business, the service can be offered on a short-term basis.
Volunteers
Volunteers make brief regular morning visits and report back to the Organiser if there are any problems. Visits are arranged according to the volunteer’s availability and preference. Some visit a single client several times a week, other will offer a single morning and do two or three visits.
